about

Hi, for English introduction, please click here

/me: As for me, to some extent, photography is similar to life. When you reach a certain stage, it probably doesn’t matter what you choose to shoot – subjects, styles, locations, gears and so on … Photos come, instantly and naturally, the moment you and the world become together.

My all-time preference is street photography. However, I like photojournalism and wedding photojournalism too as I love to capture the real emotional moments.

For your distraction: my casual photos (in Flickr), my gallery in xomnhiepanh, and I also constantly visit vnphoto.net. One of the projects that I implement recently with friends is viahe.org, aiming at becoming a new home, with new presentations, perspectives and emotions for Vietnamese street photographers.

Some favorite quotes on photography:

- “Taking pictures is savoring life intensely, every hundredth of a second.” ~Marc Riboud

- “We are not interested in the unusual, but in the usual seen unusually.” ~ Beaumont Newhall

/site: This site is a mixture of my photography porfolio and my random thoughts on photography. I do like photos and taking photos, much more than “writing on photography”, as I believe good photos should be self-expressive. Some text on captions or titles are OK, no more. Actually, most of mine (in Flickr) are “untitled”, as I think an “untitled” photo let the viewers have their own choices to think, and to name it themselves. But taking photos, esp. those about people (street, travel, etc.), needs a lot of interaction and understanding, physically and culturally. Sometimes it is so overwhelming that I cannot keep thoughts and experiences within myself … they come out here, naturally ^^

/misc: This page is written in English but the posts will be written in Vietnamese, as I feel more comfortable expressing thoughts in my mother tongue. Sorry for the confusion! This site is best view with Firefox (with Flash installed), under highest color quality (32 bit) and screen resolution at least 800×600. Please remember to calibrate your screen frequently, the easiest way is to use this tool.

Finally, if you need to use my photos, need me for photo projects, or any feedback about this site, please write to this email address: {dangquanghieu} at {gmail} dot {com}

Thanks for your time and visit on this site. Enjoy!
